FF

Had 2 bad experience with foreigners. Thus my title. Haha. This will be very biased but I'm trusting what I've seen with my own eyes so far.

First off is during the time I'm working with my friend. We're in charge of a fair in a mall and there's goodies to give out. One Indon maid approach me, looking nervous and symphathy. She told me there's a kid ground floor wants a goodie bag (we gives out shampoo) and she say he's very kesian and so on, and she said it with a sad looking facial expression. That was after I work, so I feel happy to finally call it a day, and I let my guard down. I buy all that she says and gave her the goodie bag. Only after that I recall, the kid could've just come and ask from us, or his/her parents. And I don't think any workers or any maids will have symphathy for such petty stuff. She cheated me, made up some imaginary story and I buy it. The goody bag doesn't mean anything to me, but the fact that she cheated me just to get something she wants angers me. That was the first.

The second just happened, a foreign black guy approached me and my gf, asking for money. He said he got his friend in KLIA and he had to go find them to get money, but he doesnt' have money to go there. He even said RM70 will be enough for him to take taxi to KLIA. Well, his story is kinda plausible and trustable, just that the way he ask for money. He asked "show me the money first" and ask specifically about how much we have, and requested my gf to take the money first. We thought it was the way foreigner deal with money, but soon after that my gf heard announcement saying to be wary of any strangers. Finger crossed that it's not him and will soon came back to me and return back the money. But he do left his contact, and I saw my number appear in his handphone when i miss call him back, i'll call him sooner, to ask for the money back. I don't do it because of the money, I just wanna prove myself wrong that he's not a conman and he's trustable. I really hoped so.

Speaking about conman, I'm being conned when I was form 5 or so..but the case is resolved and I got my revenge. More on that next time.

So what's the moral of the story? It's very hard to tell who's cheating you and who's not. At certain times when you're feeling happy and joyful, you'll let your guards down. That's exactly what happened to me
I came up with this few easy steps to do whenever you're confronted by (would-be) conman. Whether this proves to be useful or not, wait till I got chance to use it next time. But I pray that I'll never have to go through this again.
1)Have private discussion/ thoughts alone or with trusted friends. Conman usually appears desperate and make themself symphathy, and it affects your judgement.
2)Be tough. If the conman say stuff like "you don't trust me?" Then just say yes. It's their job to gain your trust, and your wisdom to judge it. Don't let anybody affect you.
3)Refer to higher authority. Find somebody of higher authority to come and assist you. Insist of doing so, because conman usually strikes when you're alone and he'll do anything to stop you getting your help. So do find somebody.
Out of the three steps the third one is the most important. A higher authority such as police, elder or even friends in this case can assist you greatly. Do be vigilant against strangers, especially foreigner.
